Ballmer's latest pitch to the faithful: Wide of the mark?

CEO Steve Ballmer made the case that Microsoft can be all things to all people, but that argument fell short when his Build 2013 keynote couldn't stick its landing.

Steve Ballmer's not a man given to standing still on stage for long, but for a brief moment Wednesday morning, he struck a pose in front of some of the most devoted Microsoft developers with his left arm jackknifed, hand on hip.

It was a pugnacious posture, defiant yet also expressing confidence in Microsoft's public rebuilding of Windows. Microsoft's chief executive made the case at Build 2013 that while things may not always be smooth, the company was heading in the right direction.

Ballmer emphasized a new philosophy at Microsoft, offering up what he termed a "rapid product release cadence." That refrain almost identically mirrors the "rapid-release cycle" language that Google, and then Mozilla, adopted a few years ago to describe their six-week browser update paths. For Microsoft, he said, this meant a more nimble approach to updates in its ecosystem.

Samsung's Slap.....

SEOUL: Samsung Electronics slapped a $13,000 price tag on its first curved, super-thin

OLED television to go on sale, the same price as rival LG Electronics and one that underscores the high costs of the technology.

Samsung is hoping that its success with OLED screens in smart phones such as its Galaxy S4 will also pay off in TVs, but consumers interested its 55-inch screen television must be willing to pay some five times more than popular flat-screen equivalents.
At the moment, OLED televisions are still very much a niche market and Samsung warned that industry forecasts for sales growth were a bit too optimistic.
"We have just introduced our first OLED TV and have to see consumer response to gauge overall market demand," Kim Hyunsuk, a Samsung executive vice president, told reporters.
Research firm DisplaySearch has forecast global industry-wide sales of OLED televisions at 50,000 this year, at 600,000 next year and rapid growth thereafter to reach 7 million in 2016.

Samsung tablets aren't groundbreaking in any particular direction: Analyst

NEW YORK: Samsung is expanding its lineup of tablet computers and making them look more like its Galaxy smartphones, as it hopes to translate its success in phones to the tablet market, where Apple is dominant.

Samsung Electronics, the second-largest maker of tablets after Apple, said it is putting three new tablets in the Galaxy Tab 3 series on sale in the US on July 7. The cheapest, a $199 device, will have a screen that measures 7 inches diagonally. An 8-inch model will go for $299 and a 10-inch one for $399.

"Our goal is to attract Galaxy smartphone users, and to make it the ultimate smartphone accessory," said Shoneel Kolhatkar, director of product planning at Samsung Mobile.

The "Tab" line is Samsung's value brand, undercutting the price of similar Apple models. Samsung's premium tablets are in the "Note" line, which include styluses. The 7-inch and 10-inch tablets had "Tab 2" equivalents, but the 8-inch model is new, and coincides closely in size with Apple's iPad Mini, which came out late last year.

The new tablets have the same three buttons on the front as the Galaxy smartphones. Last year's Tab 2 had no physical buttons on the front, as encouraged by Google, which supplies the Android software.

Repair Your Ipad's Home Button..

If the Home button is acting up, you should first determine if it's a software or hardware issue. Apple's online support guides for the iPad include a five-step plan which may help clear up any software glitches. Some have claimed that "recalibrating" the button helped with their slow-responding hardware.

To try this, open one of the iPad's own apps like Notes, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button at the top of the tablet until the "Slide to power off" screen appears and then hold down the Home button for several seconds until the app on the screen closes.

Apple has two workarounds in the iOS software that may help in a pinch with an unreliable Home button. The iPad's software (iOS 5 and later) includes a "multitasking gestures" setting that lets you use your fingers on the screen instead of pressing the Home button for certain tasks; instructions for using the gestures are available online.

You can also put a virtual Home button and other controls right on the iPad screen by tapping the Settings icon; tapping General, then Accessibility; and turning on the AssistiveTouch function.

How to build your own Gaming PC for Rs 26,000

How to build your own Gaming PC for Rs 26,000

                    By:Abhishek Gidde

considering you want a gaming rig, we suggest you build your computer around a graphic card. And given your budget, the AMD HD 7770 1GB (Rs 9,000 approx) is a good option. It can handle most games at FullHD - and even the graphic-intensive Battlefield 3 runs smoothly, albeit at reduced settings.
For your processor you can choose the entry-level Intel Pentium G2020 processor (Rs 3,800 approx), or if you want more horsepower, Intel's Core i3 3220 (Rs 7,000).
Pick up an ASUS P8B75-M LX motherboard (Rs 4,200); a 500GB hard disk from Seagate or Western Digital (Rs 3,200); and 4GB DDR3 RAM from Transcend or Kingston (Rs 1,800).
For your chassis and power supply unit, we recommend the Cooler Master Elite 344 (Rs 1,900) and the Corsair VS350 (Rs 2,200), respectively. And you can buy an LG or Samsung internal DVD drive (Rs 1,000).          Composed By : Abhishek Gidde
