WTF!!!! WINDOWS 10

What to expect from Microsoft's next Windows 10 event
After taking big swings with Windows 8 and 8.1 -- how big a miss they were is open to interpretation -- Microsoft's trying to redefine how we work with computers once more. We're going to get a much closer look at Windows 10 at 9AM PT/12PM ET tomorrow (which we'll be liveblogging, naturally), and all the usual suspects will be on hand to wax poetic about Windows' next steps: There's CEO Satya Nadella, of course, along with Windows chief Terry Myerson, mobile impresario Joe Belfiore and Xbox czar Phil Spencer. Let's take a moment to look at what we know -- and what we expect -- Microsoft will show off in Redmond very soon.

A better, deeper assistant

Apple's Siri is strictly a mobile entity. Google's Now voice-recognition and search chops are oozing into Chrome OS proper. And Microsoft? We've known for a long time that Cortana -- its digital assistant with the familiar name -- will make the leap from your Windows Phone to your desktop, and tomorrow's likely the day we're going to see how it all works. Of course, that's not to say we haven't already gotten a glimpse. Last month, WinBeta posted a video of a very early version of Cortana running on a (naturally) pre-release build of Windows 10 that works about as well as you'd expect: Some of the juiciest bits, like Xbox Music integration and navigation directions, weren't in working order yet, but she could still take notes and fire up Skype for calls without much verbal prodding.

The mobile-friendly future
While it's unclear how much of Windows 10 for mobile we'll actually get to see tomorrow, some of the biggest changes are happening under the hood anyway. As far as Microsoft is concerned, the future of the desktop is inescapably intertwined with that of the smartphone in your pocket -- a vision that's been talked up in a big way since the introduction of the Universal app concept at the company's Build developer conference early last year. Microsoft's end goal? To create a single, unified app store that desktop, mobile and even Xbox users can tap into without forcing developers to craft code for each disparate platform.

Gaming without boundaries
No, you read the list of guest appearances right: Xbox head honcho Spencer will be there, too. Within the past few weeks, Spencer has said that Microsoft is gearing up to show off the "best operating system we've ever created for gamers" on Wednesday -- the sort of uber-vague corporate bombast that stokes curiosity without actually satiating it.
"This is the beginning of our discussion with our fans about bringing gaming to the Windows 10 operating system," he noted in a video interview with Microsoft's Xbox Wire. Very enlightening.

Bloomberg : Satya Nadella to be the Chairman Of Microsoft Gates May be Out!!!!

Reports say that Microsoft is considering Satya Nadella to step in as the company's new CEO after a months-long search. He has been near the top of the list of expected candidates to take Steve Ballmer's role, and nowBloomberg and other outlets report that he is likely the next to take the job. Microsoft spokesperson Frank Shaw declined to confirm or deny the reports, telling The Verge, "We are not commenting." Bloomberg's sources note that the decision has yet to be finalized, but he has "emerged as one of the stronger candidates" over the past few weeks. Dina Bass, the lead reporter on the Bloomberg article, says in a tweet: "Microsoft's board is preparing to name Satya Nadella CEO, sources tell us."
In addition, the report says that Microsoft's board is considering replacing founder Bill Gates as the company's chairman. Board member John Thompson is named as a possible replacement. Thompson recently revealed details about the company's CEO search, and he's said to have pushed Ballmer in the past to adapt more quickly to the competition.
As for the reported CEO replacement, Nadella is no stranger to Microsoft. He's been at the firm for over 20 years. He studied Electrical Engineering in India before he eventually moved to the states to study computer science. Before joining Microsoft, he worked at competitor Sun Microsystems until 1992. Once he arrived in Redmond, he worked on research at the company's online services division before rotating through a few different positions including working at times on Office and Bing. More recently, he's worked to realign Microsoft’s cloud services. Significantly, he has not been heavily involved with the company's consumer-facing products.
We're currently investigating these reports and will have more when we hear it. Ballmer first announced his plans to retire as CEO last August, setting off a search to find a replacement. No matter the final decision, we should find out soon: Kara Swisher's sources say that the choice could be announced sometime next week.
Update: The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal have weighed in with reports of their own both claiming that, while Nadella is said to be the preferred candidate, Microsoft's board is yet to make a final decision.

How to run mobile messaging apps like WhatsApp on your PC

Mobile messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Kik Messenger, Kakao Talk, Line, and BlackBerry Messenger, which recently launched on Android & iOS, are all the rage these days. Which one is popular depends on which country you live in, but most of them have one thing in common: They don't run on Windows. No web interface, no Windows desktop app, not even a Windows 8 app. But you can use them on your computer anyway.
If you're lucky, your service of choice will offer a Windows solution — like Viber's desktop app - but most don't. To get around this, we'll be using a trick that allows us to run the Android versions of these apps on Windows. As a bonus, running the Android versions gets us a touch-optimized interface, so these apps will be more at home on touch-enabled Windows 8 devices.

Install BlueStacks

BlueStacks is an Android emulator. In a nutshell, it's the best way to run Android apps on Windows; other solutions for running Android apps on Windows are nowhere near as good.

You'll note that we're using the Android apps here, not the iPhone apps. That's because Android's openness makes it possible to emulate Android apps on Windows, whereas there's no competing solution that would allow you to run iPhone or iPad apps on Windows.

First, download BlueStacks and install it on your Windows PC. BlueStacks is available for Mac, but we didn't test it there.

Click (or tap, if your Windows PC has a touch screen) the Search icon at the top-left corner of the BlueStacks app player screen. Search for the mobile messaging app you want to use.

Tap the app's icon and BlueStacks will prompt you to set up a Google account before you can start installing apps. You'll have to sign in with an existing Google account or create a new one, so BlueStacks can access Google Play and get apps from there. You'll then have to link BlueStacks with your Google account so it can download apps to your device. If you'd rather not use your main Google account, you can create a new one from within BlueStacks.

Install your mobile messaging app

Once you've set up your account, you can install apps from Google Play within BlueStacks. This works just like it does on Android phones and tablets. Click the Install button and BlueStacks will download it to your computer.

When your app of choice is finished installing, click the house-shaped Home button at the bottom of the BlueStacks app player window. You'll find your newly installed app at the top of the window — if you don't see it, click the All Apps button at the right side of the window.

Set up your mobile messaging app

You'll now have to go through the normal set up process to set up your mobile messaging app. We'll be using WhatsApp as an example, but the process should be similar with other apps.

First, enter your phone number into the WhatsApp application and continue. If you don't have a cell phone number, you could even enter a landline phone number here.

WhatsApp thinks it's running on your cell phone, so it will wait five minutes for the SMS message to arrive. You can't skip this part; you'll just have to wait five minutes.

After five minutes, WhatsApp will offer to call the number you entered and give you a verification code. Tell WhatsApp to call you, answer the phone, and enter the code WhatsApp tells you. This allows WhatsApp to confirm you actually control the phone number.

Once you're done, you'll be able to use WhatsApp normally from your Windows PC or Mac. Note that WhatsApp was never designed to run on a PC, so you may encounter issues if you run WhatsApp on two different devices at the same time. If you're just running WhatsApp on your PC, you should be fine. WhatsApp becomes just another program you can run on your Windows or Mac desktop, although it will stay confined to your BlueStacks app player window.

Installing more mobile apps

You can install as many mobile messaging apps as you like, if you need to use more than one. They'll all run in within the BlueStacks app player window.

BlueStacks will allow you to run other Android apps on Windows, so you could use it to run touch-enabled Android apps that aren't available for Windows 8 tablets or play Android games on your PC.  Src:: ToI Author : : AbhishekGidde  Like FOR MORE ::: CLICK HERE

First Aid Kit For Your Pc.....

Just like every home has a First Aid Kit for medical emergencies, it pays to have something similar for your PC. All you need is a pen drive that's loaded with essential, troubleshooting software. The tools listed in this piece are free, and run straight out of a USB stick, so you don't even need to install them. And yes, it also means you can carry this 'First Aid Kit' along whenever you want to help friends with their computer problems...

ClamWin

The portable version of ClamWin antivirus can be used to scan your PC for viruses. This is extremely useful because malware can sometimes disable the antivirus software installed on your PC. With ClamWin on your flash drive, you will be able to identify and remove infections.

To keep your PC spic-andspan, you will also need to routinely scan it for spyware and adware. These are pesky programs that get installed along with free software, or if you might have clicked on an unknown web link in an e-mail. To take care of these malicious programs, also keep SpyBot - Search & Destroy on the flash drive. Just make sure you have the updated versions of ClamWin and SpyBot on your USB stick at all times.

CCleaner
If your PC seems sluggish while performing basic tasks like opening a document, or during web browsing sessions, it's probably because of the temporary files created by the software you use. To purge your system of this junk, try CCleaner. Extract the contents of CCleaner's '.zip' file to a folder of the same name on your pen drive. Now, launch the software by double-clicking the '.exe' file and start spring cleaning your machine.

Recuva
Recuva comes with a simple, wizard-driven interface that makes it easy to retrieve files that you might have permanently deleted from your PC. A 'deep scan' lists deleted files in a friendly searchable format, along with the option to preview them if they are images. That said, there is no guarantee that you will always be able to retrieve deleted data. Also, if the files you're trying to recover are extremely critical, it is best to handover this job to professional companies that do this for a fee.

Revo Uninstaller
Uninstalled software sometimes leave residue in the form of files and Registry entries. These are not easy to find and end up hogging precious space. Revo Uninstaller saves you the trouble of manually clearing these files by thoroughly uninstalling a program. It can also be used to remove those stubborn toolbars that refuse to go away. An alternative to Revo Uninstaller is PC Decrapifier - a portable tool that does just as its name suggests.

AutoRuns for Windows
If your PC takes time to boot to the desktop, then it is probably because of the number of programs that are configured to launch during the Windows start-up process. With AutoRuns, you can cut down on these programs. It analyses your machine and shows you the services and programs that are scheduled to run during the boot process. Carefully deselect the ones that are not required at launch and you will improve start-up times. You can also use WinPatrolToGo to the same effect.

How to prep your USB flash drive
:::::
*To create your PC First Aid Kit you will need a pen drive with at least 2GB capacity. If possible, invest in one that supports USB 3.0 - this will guarantee faster read-write speeds on newer PCs that support the standard.

*Format your drive: Double-click My Computer and right-click the external drive icon that appears under Devices with Removable Storage.

*Click on Format and select FAT32 from the drop-down list as the file system of choice.

*Check the Quick Format box and click Start to initiate the process.

*Your USB flash drive is now ready to be filled with portable apps. It is recommended that you regularly replace the software on the flash drive with latest revisions. For example, an up-to-date antivirus will be more capable of detecting new threats.

Opinion: Mattrick's switch must be first of many changes to Xbox One Microsoft must make more bold decisions, writes Rob Crossley

You couldn't make it up. Don Mattrick, the Microsoft executive at the very heart of the Xbox One project, is no longer at his chair. He's left for Zynga, arguably one of the most challenged major games companies in the world, and certainly one of the most disliked within the industry.

The unbelievable development comes weeks after Microsoft's extraordinary volte-face on the underpinning DRM technologies that were supposed to define the Xbox One.

For weeks, Mattrick insisted that the console's digital-native approach was essential, and that the Xbox One always-online requirement could not be undermined by some sudden sweeping policy reversal. He insisted, and insisted, and then he stopped.

Now Mattrick is a former console boss in charge of a company that has nothing to do with consoles. Now, after several billion dollars of investment poured into his dream Microsoft project, he won't be staying to see what happens on release day. Now, five months before

PS4/Xbox One tech spec comparisons 'meaningless', says Microsoft exec

"It's not going to matter,"says Xbox product planning boss Albert Penello

Comparing the "meaningless" technical specifications of Xbox One and PS4 is a pointless endeavor, argues Xbox product planning boss Albert Penello.

On paper, the raw tech specs of the Xbox One would appear to be at a slight disadvantage to PS4. But with no real gauge on exactly how it will affect real-world performance, if at all, Penello says the whole discussion is utterly pointless.
"The problem is that Sony decided to go out and publish a bunch of numbers, which are in some ways meaningless," he told OXM. "Because this isn't like 1990, when it was 16-bit versus 32-bit."
Penello went on to lash out at Sony's use of 'off-the-shelf' parts for PS4.
"As a matter of fact, they actually go out and they talk about how proud they are about their off-the-shelf parts. Our guys'll say, we touched every single component in the box and everything there is tweaked for optimum performance," he boasted.
"For me, I'd rather not even have the conversation, because it's not going to matter," Penello went on, playing down any real-world benefits to be had from tech spec differences.
"The box is going to be awesome. The games are going to be awesome. I heard this exact same argument last generation and it's a pointless argument, because people are debating things which they don't know about. They're not [head silicon engineer] Nick Baker or [corporate vice president of IEB hardware Todd Holmdahl], and I'm not [lead PS4 architect] Mark Cerny, so why are we having this discussion?" argued Penello.
"I feel like our games and experiences are going to be every bit as good, if not better, technically - on top of all the magic we're going to add with the instant switching, and the power of the cloud."
Microsoft has confirmed an Xbox One release date of November 2013. It will go head-to-head with the PS4 release which is currently officially 'holiday 2013'.
